Am I Doing Enough for the Kingdom?

You ask, what Kingdom? Countries with monarchies? No, I mean The Supreme Kingdom, the one in which God rules and overrules, the one where He is sovereign. We are modern day workers in His Kingdom, or we are supposed to be….we are on-the-ground agents for Jesus Christ. We are the hands and feet of Jesus. We are to carry on until He comes again. And He will come again.

I suppose that many aren’t working for the Kingdom because they don’t feel intelligent enough. Maybe not well-versed or educated in Scripture to know how to stand up for christianity. We should all surrender our ignorance at some point and ask God to show us the way, literally. I have a strong desire to learn more and to be active in the Kingdom. Being in a big city is helpful as it offers conferences and workshops galore. I have always been interested in witnessing to non-Christians. Sounds easy, right? It’s much easier to speak Jesus with Believers. It’s easier to teach and share with Believers. I recently attended a conference called “Without Borders” put on by Crescent Project. Fouad Masri, Founder and President of Crescent Project, has spent most of his life sharing the love of Christ with Muslims worldwide. The conference was for women and focused on training for us to reach out to Muslim women. The foundation of the training is simple, to understand what the Quran says about women and what is like to be a Muslim woman.

So is our understanding for Kingdom work. What is our foundation? What foundation did Jesus lay for us? What did He ask of us? Are some required to do more than others? How much can I get away with to secure my eternal destiny? Is there any gray area?(not supposed to be) What are other people doing?(don’t compare, you’ll only get frustrated) Is this going to hurt?(maybe.) What is it going to cost me? (A lot.) Interestingly enough for those of you who are on the fence about putting off your old self for the new self see what scripture says about that.
Ephesians 4:22-24The Message (MSG)

20-24 But that’s no life for you. You learned Christ! My assumption is that you have paid careful attention to him, been well instructed in the truth precisely as we have it in Jesus. Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.

I am much happier and peaceful with my new self. Long gone are the days of keeping up with the Joneses. If we could just get rid of that other reality TV show…….I no longer care much about what other’s think about me, what I have and don’t have, I don’t need to belong in certain groups, yet God requires that we live in this world exactly where He planted us so that we can minister to the people He put around us purposefully. It’s much easier to associate with your church friends, bible study friends and stay where it is safe. It’s easier to minister to people who are like-minded.

I can’t answer the question for you, Am I Doing Enough for the Kingdom? I know that I believe I can do more. I would do well to stand a little stronger in my home in regards to cultural mumbo jumbo. I know when my kids read this they are going to wonder what mumbo jumbo means.

When Jesus left last time, He left us with:

1. Peace
John 14:27 New International Version (NIV)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

2. Authority
Matthew 10:1 New International Version (NIV)

Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

3. Dominion (are you using it?)
Colossians 2:10 New International Version (NIV)

And in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.

4. The Great Commission–my personal fav

Matthew 28:16-20 NIV

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

5. The Holy Spirit
John 15:26 New King James Version (NKJV)

26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.

These are just the bigees and they cover a lot of ground. This is a working Kingdom here on earth. There is much work to be done. How are you helping? Your first ministry should be in your home, cultivating other little Kingdom workers. The next should be outside your home which is a little more intimidating. I try to do things which scare me a little. I ask God for opportunities and sometimes I do not like His answer. Of who is given much is required much. I know I am capable. I know you are capable. If you care enough about doing God’s work you would not have read this far. I encourage you to join in on His great command and spread the Gospel message to all nations. Start with your own family and ask Him for the next step. You won’t ever regret working for Jesus.
